Job Overview

The Patient Access Representative greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information.  Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc.  Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary.  Scans documents in EMR, maintains incomplete Verification Work-list in EMR.  Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions. Shriners Children's – Portland is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to specialize in the registration process. 

 

Schedule: Full-time,  (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Registration/check-in of patients for hospital and clinic appointments
  • Accurately maintain patient data, insurance information, and other pertinent information
  • Obtain necessary authorization forms and accurately document information in computer
  • Perform insurance verification functions, for both commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans
  • Assist in the management of work-lists related to referrals, denials, and authorization requirements
  • Assist with financial counseling functions for Uninsured patients
  • Support new patient intake and patient scheduling functions as needed
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Associate Related Field preferred

Experience

  • 2 Years Patient Access, insurance verification, required
  • 2 Years Computer applications, typing, general office skills, required
  • 2 Years Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up, required
