Job Overview

The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for oversight of Point of Care laboratory procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory Medical Director.  Also acts as liaison to evaluate other contracted laboratory services related to monitoring of testing and responsible for result management.  Duties are performed independently and/or with minimal direction by management.  Participates in development of standard operating procedures and administrative functions.  Shriners Portland is seeking a Full time Point of Care Coordinator to join the team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Performs or oversees a range of Linerarity, Controls, and new technically CLIA waived and moderate complexity procedures; Operates existing POC equipment, an following established procedures.
  • Participates in the introduction and implementation of new POC procedures and in the evaluation of new POC instruments; Participates in the Clinical Lab Quality Assurance Program, instrument selection, preventative maintenance, safety test procedures and reagent purchases; Participates in the writing of procedure manuals or other reference materials.
  • Demonstrates the ability to professionally interact and communicate appropriately with staff, patents, families, and visitors.
  • Assists in monitoring and documenting laboratory results into the Shrine System.
  • Performs and documents preventative maintenance and function checks for PC equipment and assures proper operation of instrumentation.
  • Participates in laboratory charge reconciliation.
  • Performs a variety of comprehensive registration and scheduling functions.
  • Demonstrate open, accurate and timely communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Associate in Medical Technology
  • 4 Years Clinical Laboratory

Preferred

  • Bachelor in Medical Technology, Strongly Preferred
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or 
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
