Shriners Children's Lexington is where hope and healing meet. Located in the heart of downtown Lexington on the campus of the University of Kentucky, SC Lexington is one of two Joint Commission Accredited Ambulatory Surgery Centers in the Shriners Children's system. With two state-of-the-art surgical suites and in-house Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS), our center is equipped to provide same day surgical and outpatient care to children with orthopedic conditions throughout the state of Kentucky and beyond.

Job Overview

Shriners Children’s is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our team at Shriners Children’s Lexington. This provider will support the continued growth of our Orthopedics service and provide pre-op, post-op, and non-op follow-up care to pediatric patients in a clinic setting. This position offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality care to children with a wide variety of both common and rare musculoskeletal conditions as part of a mission-driven, multidisciplinary team composed of physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

 

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with no nights, holiday, weekend or call expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, including medical histories and physical exams, under the supervision of an attending physician
  • Assist in diagnosing and managing pediatric orthopedic conditions
  • Participate in outpatient clinics, follow-up visits, and post-operative care
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and lab work
  • Document clinical findings and treatment plans in the electronic medical record
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and home care instructions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support institutional goals

Qualifications

  • Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent degree required
  • NCCPA board certification required
  • Active Kentucky Physician Assistant license required
  • Active DEA license required
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
  • 2+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant in pediatrics and/or orthopedics highly preferred. New graduates with significant pediatric or orthopedic clinical experience will also be considered.
