Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a full-time / day shift PICU RN in our PICU/PACU combined unit.  In this position, you will provide emergency intensive care to critically ill pediatric patients and will be cross-trained PACU for our combined unit.  You will have the unique opportunity to help our patients through their journey from the moment the child is wheeled through the door through the time the child leaves to go home.  Many of our patients return for follow up care as they grow.  This will give you an opportunity as a nurse to see your great work shine through the child as they grow older.

 

Hours:  This full-time position will work 3/12s, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.  There is also a weekend and holiday on-call requirement.  

 

The pay range for this position is $38.13/hour - $47.67/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

  • Assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis.
  • Involves patient, family and health care team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.
  • Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and health care team members.
  • Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.
  • Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BSN degree required or in progress
  • RN in state of Illinois
  • PALS & ACLS
  • Two years acute care hospital experience

Preferred: 

  • Previous ICU, PACU or NICU experience
  • Pediatric experience in an orthopedic and/or plastics environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
