Job Overview

Shriners Children's Spokane, is looking for a full time Appointment Coordinator to join our team!  The Appointment Coordinator accurately schedules appointments, enters data into computerized appointment system, answers phones, and directs calls as needed.  Schedulers will have the basic scheduling competencies to follow established Best Practices and be able to perform specific duties to an assigned area. Registers patients for outpatient, and/or inpatient services.  Ensures accurate patient information is entered into the computer and routes printed information to designated departments.  Professionalism and responsive communication with physicians, patients/families, and other departments is required.  Being a self starter, motivated, courteous, following patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines are all fundamentals of this position.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling & rescheduling , creating ad-hoc appointments, check in & check-out and changing appointment statuses.
  • Registration, updating, quick/trauma admit, discharge and downtime conversion.
  • Utilizing Power Chart for additional information when needed, orders matrix and patient schedule tab.
  • Cross trained to ensure relief for other scheduling positions as assigned.
  • Prepares and completes medical record review to include analysis, documentation, and physician order completion.
  • Receives, assesses and routes telephone calls.

Qualifications

Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

 

Preferred

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 Year Scheduling,registration and insurance verification
  • 1 Year Medical Secretary

 

 

(Pay range for this position is $16.92/hr - $25.38/hr. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.
