Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Rehab Aide to join our team.
This position is per diem, non exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $25.71 - $36.30/hour. Pay is determined based on relevant experience and department equity.
The Rehab Aid is responsible for assisting the rehabilitation staff (PT, OT, & SLP) with a variety of duties to optimize our patient care activities:
• Ensures all equipment and supplies are organized, available and accessible in both treatment and storage areas.
• Maintains inventory of routinely used supplies/equipment and orders additional inventory as needed.
• Responsible for regularly cleaning treatment areas (including toys) and equipment; will appropriately document cleaning of the department equipment based on manufacturers guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintains environment of care standards to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assists with set-up of equipment, patient transportation, and assists in patient treatment programs under the supervision of a therapist.
• Responsible for assisting therapists with non-direct patient care needs and tasks that will improve the patients’ one-to-one treatment experience with their therapist (ie: set up and locate equipment, send faxes, make phone calls, request orders as indicated, etc).
• Demonstrates ability to professionally manage multiple telephone calls by answering all calls promptly, speaking clearly, recording accurate messages and communicating the messages to the appropriate staff members.
• Greets patient, families, and visitors promptly.
• Knowledge of basic office equipment and supplies. Makes appropriate referrals for services and uses paging system effectively.
• Triage of patients and notifies therapist of patient’s arrival.
• Facilitates a child friendly atmosphere to waiting room and department including accessorizing the waiting room base on the current season/holiday.
• Must be willing to learn and complete basic maintenance and modification of equipment such as walkers, gait trainers, standers and wheelchairs.
• Maintains and achieves annual goals. Completion of special projects as assigned by therapists.
