Job Overview

Provides quality care, utilizing standards of practice for Occupational Therapy to improve the health and welfare of patients in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Assists in planning and developing the scope and emphasis of the OT Dept. in coordination with the identified needs of patients and families. Assists in organizing and delivering a medically prescribed OT Program to inpatients or outpatients to facilitate the rehabilitation of children with orthopedic conditions in conjunction with the Standards of Practice of the American Occupational Therapy Association.  Shriners Spokane has an opportunity for a part time Occupational Therapist to join the team!

 

 

(Pay range for this position is $31.77-$47.66/hr. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care; evaluates and treats all patients with appropriate interventions based on each patient's needs and medical conditions
  • Recognizes limits in clinical judgment and seeks peer or multi-disciplinary collaboration
  • Effectively communicates patient care needs with medical, nursing and ancillary staff
  • Collaborates with patients, families and professional to attain the desired outcomes
  • Provides thorough, accurate, inpatient and outpatient documentation, in compliance with department, hospital and Joint Commission policies
  • Actively participates in required staff meetings and continuing education program
  •  Documents the patient's responses in the medical record
  • Provides appropriate discharge plans and patient/parent teaching by written or demonstrated methods for exercises, splints, and equipment use
  • Communicates with supervisor, medical staff and appropriate personnel as needed to problem solving of clinical, departmental and hospital issues

Qualifications

Required

  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • OT license in state of practice

Preferred

  • Master's in Occupational Therapy
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) designation or active pursuit of certification
  • Proficiency in custom upper extremity splinting
  • Experience working with a variety of pediatric patients in a clinical setting
  • Advanced training or continuing education in pediatric orthopedic therapy or upper extremity rehabilitation
  • Experience and enthusiasm for developing or expanding orthopedic therapy programs
  • Proven ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, lead clinical initiatives, or supervise students
  • Familiarity with outpatient specialty care and mission driven care model
  • Involvement in clinical education or community outreach related to pediatric therapy
