Job Overview

The Lead Athletic Trainer (Certified & Licensed) works in the outpatient clinic and community settings under the direction and supervision of both the department Director and Sports Medicine Physician.  This role combines clinical expertise with leadership in supporting the health and well-being of student athletes and creating a collaborative and engaged team.  The Lead Athletic Trainer (Certified) provides advanced injury prevention, emergency care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services while collaborating with coaches, administrators, and health-care providers to ensure athlete safety and performance.  This is a hands-on role with a focus on independence, clinical decision-making, mentorship, and continued professional growth.  Shriners Children's Spokane is looking for a full time Lead Athletic Trainer (Certified) to join the team!

 

Schedule: Full time FTE 1.0 (in person)

 

The pay range for this position is $24.50-$36.76/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the athletic training team by managing schedules to optimize the use of Shriners Children's and school district resources, while ensuring sports coverage is appropriately prioritized
  • Oversee the operation of healthy athletic training rooms/facilities that are professional, clean, safe and welcoming for all student athletes
  • Work closely with Directors to develop, monitor, and maintain a comprehensive program to maximize the health and safety of all student athletes
  • Coach and mentor staff and students, providing real-time feedback and assessments, proactively addressing issues and identifying resources and solutions
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the athletic training team and collaborates with other SCH departments regarding student athletes and patients
  • Act as central point of contact for all athletic training staff, coaches, athletic directors, school and/or sport administrators, and medical providers regarding proactive care, prevention, and post-injury care
  • Develop and implement emergency action plans (EAP's) and injury management protocols specific to the high school setting
  • Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements, district and SCH policies, and applicable state athletic regulations

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training
  • Current Board of Certification ( BOC) or applicable state credential 
  • WA State ATC License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training
  • Minimum 3 or more years of direct supervisory experience
  • Five or more years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer
