Job Overview

Shriners Children's has an opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. The position is day shift, Monday - Friday.  

Responsibilities

Under the leadership of the Outpatient Department Manager and the indirect supervision of Physicians/APPs, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists with the delivery of patient care in the clinic by maintaining clinic flow, obtains routine clinical information on patients/family, provides physical care of the patients, procures and maintains par levels of clinic supplies, and provides light clerical assistance.

 

Additional Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) tasks include:
Transcribing of delegated orders into the EMR
Casting/splint application, maintenance guidance and removal
Obtaining specimens, including performing venipuncture

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) 
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - by Certification by the American Association for Medical Assistants
  • Three years' experience as a Medical Assistant
  • National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technology required in 12 months 
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician within 12 months

 

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree
  • Two years' pediatric care experience
