Job Overview

We currently have an opening for a full time Medical Assistant to join our Portland, OR team. The Staff CMA functioning in a specialty role accountable for providing comprehensive, family-centered care to patients and families in the pediatric orthopedic Outpatient Department.  Provides the highest possible level of comprehensive care to Outpatient Clinic patients and their families under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or RN.

 

 

Schedule: Full time, FTE 0.9

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of direct patient care according to current Outpatient Clinic "Standards of Care."  Documents interventions per policy and lists plan consistently
  • Obtains patient history and vital signs
  • Coordinates patient care information with other health care providers
  • Obtains and graphs patient's weight, height, arm span, and head circumference according to Outpatient Clinic "Growth Chart Graphing (Plotting)" competency checklist
  • Reviews new patient assessments according to Outpatient Clinic “Health History and New Patient Assessment”. Uses good clinical judgment to identify problems and interventions with patients/families and referral to RN as needed
  • Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment with PCA/cast tech. Maintains equipment and notifies supervisor/manager when new equipment needed. Assists in ordering cast supplies. Sets up and cleans cast room. Demonstrates skills necessary to assist with cast, splint, and dressing application, removal, and cleaning in multiple hospital settings 
  • Prepares for clinic by chart review; organizes clinic flow, follow-up with appropriate paperwork, packs for outreaches. Staffs specific Outreach Clinic per policy

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Associate Medical Assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:
  • Certification by the American Association for Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting
