Job Overview

The Patient Access Representative functions as a resource to staff and the general public regarding the new patient intake process and all assigned areas of responsibility. The assistant performs all functions related to processing new requests for treatment including self-referrals, healthcare professional referrals and Shriner referrals. This position is also responsible for scheduling and pre-registration of the initial ambulatory clinic appointment and performs several functions related to inpatient hospital admission.

 

The pay range for this position is $22.94/hr - $34.41/hr.  Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

 

Responsibilities

Requirements include new patient intake and new patient appointment scheduling processing; admissions processing; and updating patient demographics. This position will also serve as a backup to registration.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required

Experience

  • Less than 1 year of administrative experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Less than 1 year of Windows-based computer skills preferred
  • Less than 1 year of Customer Service experience preferred
  • Epic EMR highly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Perform data entry and type accurately with speed
  • Ability to effectively plan, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with children / families from diverse social economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Customer service skills
  • Basic record keeping and filing systems
  • Computerized databases and word applications
  • Adapt to a variety of new and sensitive situations and responsibilities in an appropriate and positive manner.
