Job Overview

The HR Generalist supports the human resources function of Shriners Children's (SC) by providing guidance to managers and staff related to applicable operating policies and procedures, recruitment, compensation, departmental consulting, training and development, benefit administration and employee relations.

 

This position is based in Boston and will also provide support to our Springfield facility, requiring onsite visits to Springfield 1 - 2 times per month.

 

The pay range for this position is $66,160 - $99,240.  Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Responsibilities

Supports daily operations for conducting business in Human Resources

  • Assists with the coordination and administration of hospital benefit programs and retirement plans, particularly annual enrollment.
  • Supports the administration of annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensures job descriptions are accurate (e.g. responsibilities, education, certifications) and updated in accordance to compliance standards (e.g. TJC, OSHA). Provides competent training and acts as a resource for staff.
  • Reviews Position Status report bi-weekly and corrects errors promptly.
  • Completes job evaluations and salary analysis in support of the SC Compensation Philosophy.
  • Actively leads/participates in the administration, evaluation and re-design of HR policies, processes and procedures.
  • Supports the Regional Director, HR and Senior Management with special projects as required.
  • Partners with managers and staff to ensure uniform and equitable application of corporate policies and applicable regulations.
  • Acts as back-up to the Regional Director Human Resources including as liaison to the Corporate Headquarters and corporate taskforces as assigned.

Coordinates Recruitment

  • Coordinates the recruitment process through reviewing job descriptions and operating needs, posting positions and screening applicants in accordance with SC policies and local standards
  • Works directly with managers to develop a qualified candidate pool and facilitate an efficient and effective hiring process

Organizational Training and Development

  • Contributes to the development and presentation of training programs, including but not limited to orientation, reward and recognition, and employee development initiatives.
  • Makes recommendations for training opportunities that support the mission, vision and strategic goals of the organization

Employee Relations

  • Provides advice and guidance to management regarding recruitment, staffing, compensation and employee disciplinary issues.
  • Facilitates employee understanding of local and corporate HR policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state regulations as needed.

Compliance

  • Coordinates efforts to meet or exceed HR standards for compliance with Joint Commission and or regulatory requirements for CMS, and other state and federal regulations.

Special Events and other duties

  • Manages employee recognition programs including Annual Awards and Employee Relation functions.

Builds collaborative relationships with leadership, medical staff, peers, and hospital staff.

 

Actively supports all department and hospital policies.

 

Actively supports patient safety initiatives. Responds and acts on safety recommendations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years of HR Generalist experience
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS applications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field

 

Preferred:

  • 3 years of healthcare setting experience
  • Financials/budgeting and strategic HR planning
  • Workday experience
  • PHR/SPHR certification
