Job Overview

Shriners Children's Philadelphia is seeking a full-time Seating Specialist to provide for seating and mobility equipment needs for a variety of orthopedic diagnoses to infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, adolescents, and young adults. Also to attend assigned clinics and work with a multidisciplinary team providing the team and patient / family with expertise in Seating and Positioning, and DME.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge & skills necessary to assess, set goals, & plan for care of infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, adolescents & young adults with a variety of orthopedic needs, to provide the most appropriate seating system for the patient.
  • Patient treatment is carried out in accordance with standards of care and under the direction of a Physical or Occupational Therapist. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge & skills to coordinate the various team members. Planning involves team members,
    patient/family members, and appropriate community providers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills & ability to provide for adaptive equipment needs of the patient. Follows department policy of working through vendors & patient insurance, or donations from outside sources.
  • Evaluates and monitors need for adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, and seating systems.
  • Maintains working space in clean and safe manner, adhering to physical environment guidelines of the hospital.

Qualifications

Required:

  • CPR certification or the ability to complete within three months of hire

Preferred:

  • 2 years seating and mobility technology 
  • ATP certification
