Located in North Philadelphia on the Main Campus of Temple University Hospital, Shriners Children's Philadelphia is a 49-bed pediatric specialty hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children with orthopedic conditions and spinal cord injuries. The hospital offers a range of services, including orthopedics, spine surgery, sports medicine, scoliosis treatment, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and pediatric rehabilitation and therapy. The facility is Joint Commission accredited, reflecting its commitment to the highest standards of patient safety and quality care. We offer low-cost, on-site parking. Job Overview

We have an opportunity for a full-time Patient Care Assistant in our PICU.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned
  • Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families
  • Monitors children’s activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children
  • Answers telephones, triages phone calls appropriately
  • Completes purchase orders for PICU and inpatient unit
  • Maintains unit supplies and monitors’ inventory
  • Assists with routine secretarial assistance such as copying, faxing, and typing
  • Assist with patient transport
  • Schedule appointments with consultants, radiology, and other imaging services
  • Assists with performance improvement processes and gathering data

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma / GED

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

 

Preferred:

One year of pediatric experience
