Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago is seeking a full time Mentored Scientist to join the Shriners Clinical Research team! 

 

Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries.

 

The pay range for this position is $84,676 annually to $127,004 annually. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

 

This is a three year grant funded position.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the PI, assist in designing experiments.
  • Assist in the development of experimental protocols and techniques.
  • Develop appropriate hypotheses and methodologies for the research.
  • Assist with the education and supervision of surgical residents and other laboratory personnel.
  • Develop skills to obtain third-party funding for research initiatives (i.e. NIH).
  • Assist with data management and development of data for presentation and publication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Doctorate in related field required
  • One year Research experience preferred

Additional skills:

  • Knowledge of: Data collection and analysis; Transgenic animal management; Statistics Cellular and molecular biology; Computer programs, spreadsheets, graphics programs, and word processing.
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively in public; Collaborate effectively with investigators; Direct and supervise in accordance with the PI laboratory personnel; Effectively analyze and manage program budget; Employ writing skills to assist in developing grants; Assist with the planning of new laboratory operations and long-range development
