Located in North Philadelphia on the Main Campus of Temple University Hospital, Shriners Children's Philadelphia is a 49-bed pediatric specialty hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children with orthopedic conditions and spinal cord injuries. The hospital offers a range of services, including orthopedics, spine surgery, sports medicine, scoliosis treatment, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and pediatric rehabilitation and therapy. The facility is Joint Commission accredited, reflecting its commitment to the highest standards of patient safety and quality care. We offer low-cost, on-site parking. We also have outreach clinics in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and Dorado, Puerto Rico, which provide children and families access to high-quality, specialized care in our neighboring communities and beyond.

Job Overview

Shriners Children’s Philadelphia is where hope and healing meet. Our team of highly specialized physicians provides comprehensive care for children with fractures, sports injuries, orthopedic conditions, scoliosis, spinal cord conditions, and spine injuries. We have an opportunity for a Director of Performance Improvement & Risk Management. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing, maintaining, collaborating, and periodically reviewing/ revising an interdisciplinary hospital wide performance improvement program to ensure the ongoing monitoring, evaluation, assessment and improvement of patient care and services and the organization.
  • Coordinate the Performance Improvement Department and the Hospital’s Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management Programs to assure that appropriate care and services are administered to patients and their families, and to assure and promote a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, staff and others who work within the Shriners Children’s – Philadelphia.
  • This effort is implemented through the following areas: TJC Readiness for continued accreditation, Coordination of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Plan, Patient Care Monitoring utilizing indicators developed by the Medical Staff and Occurrence Reporting.
  • Functions in the role of Hospital Patient Safety Officer (PA MCARE).
  • Functions in the role of Patient Relations representative.

Qualifications

Required: 

BSN or Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare or related field

Five (5) years quality management experience

Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) upon hire 

Five (5) years clinical, diagnostic, or related healthcare experience

 

Preferred:

Master's degree 

Supervisory and management, patient safety and regulatory compliance experience

Previous PI and Risk Mgt. experience highly desired
