Job Overview

The Medical Assistant supports the medical staff in providing care and comfort to patients ranging from infants up to 21 years of age during clinic by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks.  This includes assisting the physicians, obtaining data from the patients and their families and entering that data in the EMR, answering questions of and assisting ancillary personnel, as well as providing care under scope of practice.

 

The pay range for this position is $19.86 hourly to $29.79 hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record. 
  • Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes.
  • Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies.
  • Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • BLS (within 90 days)
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft applications preferred)
  • Experience in or ability to learn the electronic medical record
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and providing personal service for pediatric to adult patients and their families; emergency protocols; knowledge of proper lifting; ability to perceive patient reactions to simple treatments, etc.; customer service. 

Preferred:                                          

  • Previous experience in Orthopedics as a medical assistant (pediatric setting preferred) a plus
  • Experience with casting
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
