Job Overview

Shriners Children’s – Portland is seeking a part time Volunteer Coordinator to join our Human Resources team! This position is responsible for organizing and directing efforts to recruit, retain and appreciate the hospital volunteers.  Maintains communication between staff, committees and volunteers to ensure the best possible match between the hospital's needs and volunteer capabilities.  Schedule and organize hospital tours and events for visitors, Shriners and other groups interested in the mission of the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Assists hospital departments with logistics for in-house events, schedules and organized tours and special events for community and fraternal visitors, and oversees facility rentals
  • Stages volunteer recognition event during the calendar year to honor the hospital volunteers, as well as oversee ongoing recognition and collecting feedback and praise from volunteer supervisors
  • Identifies needs for volunteers within the hospital, works with departments to develop job descriptions and evaluate mechanisms, and uses a variety of means to recruit, place, and orient volunteers within the hospital program
  • Provides annual reorientation and reports on completion
  • Produces volunteer newsletters in-house for purposes of training ,recognition, and keeping volunteers informed of current hospital happenings
  • Produces reports for tracking volunteers program accomplishments, hours and years of service, special events and tour statistics.  Maintains and distributes event calendars and notifications

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 years Volunteer Coordination, Communication Skills, Organizational Skills and Computer applications, typing, general office skills

Preferred

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor
