Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago is seeking a part time MRI Technologist to join the Shriners Radiology team!  20 hours per week.

 

Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries.

 

The pay range for this position is $35.71/hourly to $53.57/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Responsibilities

    • Assesses orders for accuracy and clarifies with provider prior to imaging, if necessary (correct patient, correct CPT code, correct body part, correct side, correct views)
    • Responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality MRI study is produced 
    • Administers contrast intravenously, screens for allergies and contraindications
    • Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports any potential problems or malfunctions to the appropriate contact(s)
    • Works closely with radiologists and physicians who interpret studies to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury
    • Responsible for communication and documentation of patient studies
    • Alerts patients and staff of danger of wearing or carrying metal near the magnet.
    • Ensures that MRI screening is completed, and contraindications reviewed and addressed
    • Adheres to MRI safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Controls and evaluates for safe entry of all persons, objects, supplies and equipment into the MRI environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Science (AS or AAS) from a JRCERT or ARMRIT accredited program is required
  • ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification required; ARRT is strongly preferred
  • Must be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association
  • One year of MRI experience strongly preferred
  • Additional modality (CT or X-Ray) strongly preferred, with accreditation from Illinois Emergency Management Agency and ARRT
  • One year pediatric and/or orthopedic radiology experience preferred
