Job Overview

A Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist fabricates a variety of orthoses and prostheses for inpatients and outpatients as prescribed by the medical staff, measuring and fitting patients for appropriate orthoses, and serving as a resource to staff regarding assigned areas of responsibility. In this vital role, and as a member of our team centered approach to care, you will have the ability to form connections with our pediatric patients as they grow, using CAD/CAM technology and fabricating onsite.

 

This position is full-time, exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $48.70 - $73.05/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates specific orthoses and prostheses for inpatients and outpatients utilizing a variety of technical skills and knowledge
  • Repairs orthoses and prostheses and provides alterations to insure continued fit/function of the device in a timely manner.
  • Fits orthoses to patients assuring proper fit, patient comfort, and satisfactory function according to physician's prescription.
  • Responsible for supervising Prosthetic Technicians in fabricating prostheses which assure proper fit, patient comfort, and satisfactory function according to physician's prescription.
  • Oversees fabrication to ensure prostheses are structurally sound as well as fitting, alignment and finishing to insure proper fit, comfort, and cosmesis.
  • Provides written and verbal instructions to patients and families regarding the care and application of devices; answering basic questions and/or referring to appropriate resources as necessary.
  • Participates during clinics to measure/cast; to provide feedback to physicians and staff regarding need for or appropriateness of devices per request of Orthotics Manager.
  • Provides appropriate direct patient care in a clinical setting under direction of the Orthotics/Prosthetics Manager and within established procedures
  • Performs a variety of administrative and operational support functions for department and according to patient needs

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of Orthotist/ Prosthetics experience
  • American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics
  • Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC)
