Job Overview

Shriners Children’s, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center, has an opportunity for a RN Care Manager to join our team.

 

The RN Care Manager role requires a comprehensive understanding of the clinical, financial, administrative, and psychosocial aspects of the healthcare continuum, along with strong utilization management experience. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing interventions, and coordinating follow-up care for Shriners’ patients and their families. Services are delivered in person, telephonically, via email or through telehealth to support the development of and adherence to individualized treatment plans that optimize patient outcomes.

 

Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, the RN Care Manager proactively identifies and addresses actual or potential clinical and psychosocial needs. This ensures that care is developmentally appropriate and that transitions in health status are safe, seamless, and well-coordinated.

 

This position is Full Time, Exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $98,446.40 - $168771.20 annually. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

The RN Care Manager is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, and following up on care for patients and their families at Shriners Children’s across the continuum of care. In this role, you will enhance the patient experience by ensuring continuity of care and supporting positive outcomes within a family-centered environment.

 

The RN Care Manager demonstrates strong assessment skills, including the ability to identify social and medical inequities in a complex patient population. This role requires emotional intelligence and proactive critical thinking to anticipate needs, address challenges, and make sound clinical decisions.

 

The position requires working knowledge of compliance regulations, resource stewardship, transitional care, utilization management, and InterQual criteria. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

 

The ideal candidate consistently demonstrates empathy, compassion, and a caring approach when working with children with complex medical conditions and their support systems. Bilingual proficiency in English and an additional language is preferred.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field is preferred

Certifications and Licensures

  • Current RN license in the State of Hawaii required
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required

 

Experience

• 3 years of Nursing required
• Minimum of 1 year as an RN Care Manager, pediatric care management experience preferred
